Marketers Read Your Facebook Photos, Linking Facebook Groups to Pages & More: The Social Scoop 5/23/17

Last week, I mentioned that you can now see the number of SAVES next to each Facebook Page post… I was under the impression this was for Admins of Pages only.

Turns out, it’s a new public-facing stat for all Pages.

New Public-Facing ‘Saves’ Metric on Facebook Page Posts

And, as I explained in this video (embedded below), you now have more incentive to create Custom Audiences of people who have saved your posts and retarget them with similar/different content to help them get to know you and your business better. [See minute 31:30]

This Week’s Top 3 Articles

1. Now Marketers Can Actually Read Your Photos on Instagram and Facebook via FastCompany.com

We are all familiar with seeing online ads related to searches we’ve done, or websites we’ve visited, or our interests and demographics. But, did you know that companies can now target ads based on images you post publicly on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook? Woa, amazing!! I’m not sure if I’m excited or a bit spooked by this. Lol! It certainly adds a new layer of being able to deliver relevant, personalized, ads and increasing conversions and click-through rates. Hm.

2. How to Link Your Facebook Page to Your Facebook Group (and the unexpected benefits of doing so!) via SarkeMedia.com

If you have a Facebook Page and manage one or more Facebook Groups, you can link your Page and your Group(s) together. There are benefits to doing this such as building out your group, and additional brand recognition. However, I am hearing of a few glitches, such as only being able to post/interact as your Page in the group and no longer as your profile (vs. having the choice, like we do on our Pages). Plus, you may find that linking your group will send invites to everyone who has liked your page, which you may or may not want.

3. 5 Essential Components of a Top-Notch Digital Marketing Strategy via MarketingZen.com

Planning your digital marketing can be challenging if you’re not sure which tactics are essential and which are not. Most businesses have limited resources and time, so it’s important to prioritize and plan ways to get the most from your efforts – and this helpful article lays out five key aspects with which I certainly agree! Check out the mobile usage stats in #2. Amazing.

Okay, that’s a wrap for this issue of The Social Scoop. I hope you have an amazing week ahead and I look forward to connecting again very soon.

Cheers,
