    Hey Mari!

Just bought the book on Amazon.ca (receipt #: 701-1755925-2954656) and look forward to reading it!

    1. Where you’re feeling stuck with Facebook/Twitter/social media.

I’ve been trying to wrap my head around how to use Facebook and Twitter for quite some time now. It wasn’t until I heard you being interviewed by Bill Glazer and then heard you at Investfest that I realized that you actually can (and how). Since meeting you at Investfest I’ve been able to increase my Twitter followers from 98 to 240 (and it’s increasing every day) and will be getting a professional photo taken on Thursday using your Twitter profile as a model. I’ve also enrolled in your membership program and changed my schedule last week to attend your intro call to Investfest clients. So yes – I’m very serious about this! 🙂

    2. How you think your business would benefit most from a rapid immersion in high-level social marketing training.

I’ve been marketing my wine making info product for the last year and a half, and while I have been able to build an email list of 900 people I’ve only been able to sell about $2,000 worth of books. I agree that people buy from people that they like and trust and I feel that I really need to focus on consistently building up my character and brand. I also need to communicate with my wine making “peeps” on a more consistent basis (as well as constantly add new “peeps” to the community) and this this where I believe Twitter and Facebook come in to play.

    3. Why I should pick you as the winner of this scholarship.

Excellent question! I think you should pick me for 3 simple reasons – persistence, helping others and taking action.

PERSISTENCE – I went through Derek Gehl’s coaching program almost 2 years ago and have been working on my business outside of my regular “day job” most evenings and weekends ever since. While I haven’t seen the results that I would like I’m convinced that the market exists and that I merely need to find the right “formula” to get it right. At no point have I thought about giving up! Your program will help add some missing pieces!

HELPING OTHERS – I’m the type of person who has always enjoyed helping others improve themselves. Whether it be teaching people how to swim, volunteering on the ski hill as a ski patroller or teaching people how to build their business with Internet marketing I’m happy to lend a hand. I think you have a lot to offer and I’m quite happy to share what I learn with my own “peeps”!

TAKING ACTION – I’m always learning new things and putting them into action. For example, after hearing Ali Brown at this year’s SuperConference I created a weekly wine making eZine to stay in touch with my clients and build my profile within my community. I’m also in the process of launching a monthly printed newsletter and wine making membership site inspired by Dan Kennedy and Ryan Deiss. I dream big and take action. I can only imagine what I can do learning from you. 🙂

I should also mention that I’m putting some serious thought to joining your mentoring program this fall so that I can be part of your social marketing mentor team.

So there you have it. I’d like to think that I’ve got a lot to offer and certainly worthy of being chosen.

    Thank you for your consideration!

    Warmest Regards,

    Scott “The Wine Making Guy”

    P.S. “don’t publish” 🙂 Thanks!

    Please don’t publish.

Mari, I’m not sure if my comment was received because I hit “submit comment” and the page refreshed and my information was displayed, but not my comments.

So, just in case (I really want to be a part of the immersion program), here are my responses again and I’m sorry for any duplication.

    1. My biggest challenge with Facebook, Twitter, etc. is how to integrate all of the pieces. Currently, I have an account on Twitter and I’ve created a page on Facebook (in addition to my personal profile) for my business and for my blog. What I’m not clear about is how to build these out and how to generate meaningful connections for my business.

    2. Our business (I run it with my husband) would benefit from the program because currently we manage websites for a number of small businesses and we are limping along trying to help them with their social media efforts. If I can learn how to implement social media strategies for our business and succeed in doing so, then I can also teach our clients the same so they can be successful as well. I’m passionate about helping business owners take advantage of the latest technologies and trends (especially moms).

    3. If you pick me as the winner of the scholarship, you can rest assured that I will be an active participant and will work steadily to implement the techniques you teach me. And, as a result, I will help others to take advantage of social media marketing techniquest. I believe that social media is transforming our society and allowing people to have more time for the important things in life because of the flexibility it affords them. I believe there are some amazing business ideas and business owners out there that deserve to utilize the techniques that are out there and I’d like to help them to do so, so they can create an amazing life.

    Thanks, Mari!

PS — My receipt # for the book is 114511306

My biggest roadblock right now with Facebook, Twitter and social media in general is finding the right people to connect with. My second problem is effectively using these avenues in a timely manner. Its very easy to spend hours on these sites and not be effective.

I know my business would appeal to many people freuenting the realm of social media because for one, many people are looking to supplement their incomes with todays economic chaos. And secondly, those who can afford to shop would have an interest in the products i have to offer.

Mari, “why should you pick me.” you ask. I am one of those people looking to supplement my family’s income during this financial chaos. I believe in the business model before me and I have a desire to learn the path that I believe will help me achieve my goals.

Wishing you a scent-sational day, Mari!

1.) Where you’re feeling stuck with Facebook/Twitter/social media?

SOCIAL MEDIA: I’m torn between being spread too thin between various platforms, and focusing on the most effective top five.

    TWITTER:
Originally, Twitter was my newsfeed to keep a pulse on areas of interests, but now I am using it to build relationships.

People don’t talk back to me on Twitter because I didn’t use it to build a following—but more as an information source. I’m having trouble making that transition.

    FACEBOOK:
I need to find different strategies and tactics for my “Facebook Friends” and “Facebook Fans.” There’s a difference in how you treat them.

2.)How you think your business would benefit most from a rapid immersion in high-level social marketing training?

I will learn to adjust from my phases: from information feeding to networking and then building a following.

3.)Why I should pick you as the winner of this scholarship?

When I first entered social media, I “did it wrong quickly,” but stayed on the pulse of it. Now, I’m in the process of cleaning up my missteps, while staying in the rapidly changing tide.

  5. Mike, but my friends call me MC on June 9, 2009 at 9:18 pm

I just finished ordering Dave’s book… as a matter of fact, I own all of Dave’s books.

Here’s my entry answers to your 3 questions:

    1. My sticking point is that I don’t know how to use social media in my market or as a marketing tool. The more I read about it, the more confusing it gets. I’m not a very technical guy and I’d rather spend my time marketing. Social Media seems to be hard to master and also time-consuming. It would be very cool if social media were made easy for people like me.

    2. I think I would benefit most from social media if I can get prospects to engage/pursue me and my services so that I can have fast direct communications or feedback/results. It would be a great low cost tool to learn customer preferences and performing market research. I can also see using it as a brand and credibility builder. Putting all that together would make my business grow exponentially.

    3. You’d be doing a great service for America and the both of us if you were to pick me as the winner of the scholarship.

I provide a unique service that has the potential to help millions of Americans foreclosure-proof their home so they can continue to live life with their family in their home without the fear, stress or worry of losing it ever again. This is the mission I was put on this planet for.

You would get a raving case study that would show how you transformed me from technical dunce to expert social media marketer, as well as have a potential JV partner using my list that I built with your help.

I want to play BIG, so I have the courage to follow through and I’m not afraid of taking imperfect action.

    Thanks for the chance!

    Hi Mari

I just got the book via Amazon (order # 104-7377148-4076226 ) and can’t wait to read it! Good thing I have Amazon Prime so it will be here by Thurs!

    And now… (DRUM ROLL PLEASE)

Lisa’s TOP TEN REASONS why you should consider me for your Social Marketing Mastery Scholarship!

#10: I know just enough about Twitter, Facebook and other social media to be a danger to myself and others! Over 7000 followers and no clear strategy?! YIKES!!

#9 I am social bookmarking challenged: every time I try to digg I stumble which is not delicious.

#8 I have multiple social personality disorder. Who am I? My own name? My business? My Twitter handle? On Facebook am I talking to my customers? my clients? my colleagues? my cousins? Save me from being a Social Media Sybil (and help me save others).

#7 With all these challenges, I have somehow still become the default Twitter and Facebook answer lady to the uninitiated in my tribe. I feel responsible and would love to be able to share more and better info with all the people who come to me for help and advice, both business and personal.

#6 As an old-school Madison Avenue advertising copywriter, I want the tools to drag my freelance clients into a more interactive and dynamic relationship with their customers, rather than just talking and selling AT them with traditional old-style marketing.

#5 I am a passionate, outgoing and enthusiastic (OK, I’m LOUD) person who is not afraid to communicate in public and loves talking about things I believe in! I will happily and vociferously spread the word about this program far and wide.

#4 I’ve been DYING to sign up for this course but my husband won’t let me spend the $ and I just don’t want to blow my marriage after only 2 years. However, I’d LOVE to show him the value of your training and give him a BIG “I told you so.” (Bronx cheer optional.) After that I think he’d get it.

#3 I would be overwhelmed with guilt (what can I say, I’m Jewish) being given such a generous gift and so would feel compelled to give back in any way I could (editing sales letters, writing snappy headlines, Tweeting my gratitude incessantly, arriving with wine) — WARNING: ETHICAL BRIBE

#2 I am very quick study, LOVE learning and implementing new things and sharing what I know with others, so your generosity would not end with me.

And the #1 reason why you should pick ME for your Social Marketing Mastery Scholarship…

We are both fun smart people here in SD and it would be a blast to hang out and get to know each other!!
(And I love turquoise. But that would be #11)

Congrats on the new book! Next let’s have one of your very own.

    Looking forward to reading!
    Lisa

    Hi Mari.
Wow….what a fantastic opportunity! I would absolutely love to join you in a rapid immersion training process. I have to say watching you market your business is truly amazing and I am learning so much in the MWM program. The stuckness only comes from the ability to bridge the distance between running the current businesses I own and getting certified in social media with enough practical experience / knowledge to abundantly monetize a new social media business as soon as possible. I believe I would make a great Testimony for you for Total Immersion in the process for those that are serious about Social Media Consultation and taking the leap of faith backed by personal desire and motivation (even with 5-year old twins)! Either way it is an absolute pleasure learning from you and I know I will get there either way – this would just quantum leap the process!!

  8. Danielle on June 9, 2009 at 12:59 pm

    Hi Mari:

I actually am receiving a copy of Dave’s book in the mail. He tweeted about receiving an advance copy and of course I jumped on that right away:-)

    1. I feel like I am particularly stuck with the technical aspects of social media because I seem to get to a certain point and then have difficulty monetizing what I’m doing. I’m great at the relationship aspect of social media; I absolutely love meeting people and “talking” with them and I develop great rapport with folks. I am absolutely fascinated with social media and feel like I have wasted a lot of time going down rabbit holes in order to get relevant information on how to use it effectively. So, I have the basic fanpage setup on FB and profile on LinkedIN and Twitter, but I haven’t OPTIMIZED them for business purposes.

    2. My business would benefit most from a rapid immersion because that is definitely my learning style. Give me the information and techniques and I will immediately go and apply them to my best ability. I particularly need to learn to market AND systemize my business. As you talk about so eloquently, developing a radical strategic visibility is crucial to an effective presence in social media and that appears to be my biggest block right now. Using these outlets strategically is a skill I need to learn and develop more fully. I have the basics down and am ready to rapidly move my business forward; no, make that NEED to move my business forward.

    3. Why me? Well, your style resonates with me and I greatly admire your philosophy and beliefs. I want to learn from the best teachers and you are definitely one of them! I am someone who will implement what you are teaching me and I’m so ready with what I have already learned to move to the next level! Knowing you a little like I do, I would be so grateful to learn and grow from your knowledge and expertise!

    Warmly,
    Danielle

    Hi Mari,

First off, Thank you! You always provide such valueable information and resourses in your emails and it’s a pleasure to follow you. I am scheduled to launch LifeTrax.com next month and I’m sure the book will be a great add to my library and I’m looking forward to reading Dave’s book, and of course YOUR chapter.

I’m feeling stuck in my social media with just simply knowing how to effectively get out there, follow, update, what to say ect… As a new business owner, my time is very limited, but I know that my social media involvement is crucial to my success.

I know that my business would benefit greatly from an emersion in high level social media training by knowing how to effectively share my passion for helping other people live a reality that exceeds their dreams. LifeTrax is such a wonderful site that is designed to help people in so many crucial areas of life, but if people don’t hear about it, they can’t use it to better themselves. So for me, it’s not just about how my business would benefit, it’s about how OTHERS would benefit from knowing about LifeTrax.com

Mari, I would be honored to be chosen to participate in your Social Media Mastery Program and I practiced what Dr. Wayne Dyer talks about in his new book “Excuses BeGone” (Great Book) and went to sleep last night putting my subconscious to work searching for the answer to my need to increase my social media expertise and this morning your email was the first one that I read. I know that you are passionate about helping other people acheive success, as am I, and learning from you would be a way for both of us to accomplish our goal. Let’s work together to create lasting change in people’s lives Mari. They deserve it!

Thanks for your consideration in my desire to win this scholoarship for the benefit of so many people.

    1. I’m stuck finding the time for social media and managing Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn efficiently/effectively.
    2. I’m consulting for several companies that could hugely benefit from a finely tuned social media strategy and I’d like to create passive income on my own site myonlinebusinessideas.com using a social media strategy.
    3. I think you should pick me as the winner of the scholarship because I’m serious about reinventing myself and my business using the power of social media and I enjoy promoting your social media “guruism” on my site!
