Wow! Talk about a lot of links. Thanks for sharing all this information with us! My only issue with Facebook and accounts is when you create an account – for a college group or a business, you are permanently the owner/manger of that group. There is no way to pass along the responsibility. Hope Facebook changes that policy soon.

Hi Jenna — glad you found this directory useful! Hm, regards the situation you describe – the only thing you can do as the original creator/admin of a group is leave the group. But, of course, not before first assigning one or more other admins. Then, rejoin the group.

I've tried that and it doesn't seem to be an option as of now…

Is there any way to get a record of what I have sent/posted from my account. I am being accused of something i never sent and want proof that It was never sent from my account!! Any help would be appreciated!

    • Mari Smith on July 8, 2010 at 11:56 am

For emails, you should be able to go into your Sent Items — but then if something was deleted that can't be proven. There's no Trash unlike other email systems.

For posts, try backing up your Facebook profile with http://socialsafe.net – it's a few dollars for the app but well worth it. This backs up all your content. Again, however, it wouldn't prove that something had not been posted if it got deleted.

      Hope this helps some!

    Mari-

Would you have any insight on the following problem?

I had deactivated my fb account back in March I believe it was when my wife and simply began using her account. Now, all of a sudden, my wife logs on to our account and sees that my old account is active! I don't know why/how/how long ago this happened, but it really ticked her off. Now I'm trying to figure this out, but she won't believe me that I honestly did not reactivate it. We log on to our joint account nearly every day, so I would think it would have been noticed relatively quickly. How can I prove to her that I really did not reactivate my old account behind her back?

I thought deactivating and deleting were the same thing back when I did it, otherwise I would have actually deleted instead of deactivated it. Now I know the difference and will be deleting today…and hoping it's gone in 14 days.

Wow, that is really bizarre!! Hmm, yes if you go ahead and follow the instructions above for actually DELETING your account vs deactivating, that should do the trick. How odd that Facebook seem to reactivate after a certain period? I haven't heard anything about that!

FABulous, Mari 🙂 Love the book, too! Great-great info — quite a bit of Ninja scouting it pulling this awesome list together, it would seem — totally amazing and appreciated!
